Report on a fieldtrip to ARNES

Introduction

This report focuses on the fieldtrip the school organized. The report was written by the excursion attendee on request of an English teacher. The report focuses on the why the event took place, activities, organization and opinions of the participating students.

Facts

The trip took part on the 17th September 2021 and was attended by sophomore classes. The fieldtrip started with corona-testing which the teachers supervised. Once in Ljubljana, the group visited the Faculty of Computer Science. Following the visit, the students then arrived to the main ARNES facility. At ARNES two of their representatives gave an hour-long lecture each. The first lecturer focused on the main purpose of ARNES itself and recommendations regarding the safe use of the internet and social media, the second lecturer talked about the building itself. The students also visited a guided art exhibition in Cankarjev dom consisting of various photographs by Joco Žnidaršič named “Leta preloma”. The point of the exhibition was to learn how to report on the events that happen.

Organization and activities

The organization was well planed but poorly executed, since the class arrived there early. There was a handful of activities. Students opinions on the event vary from positive to negative feedback.

Summary and comments

All in all, it was an eventful day which I personally found interesting. The most memorable visit for me was the visit to ARNES and the least the guided art exhibition.  The art exhibition was in my honest opinion a bit repetitive.
